The Iberian League is part of the new European Football system, introduced for the start of the 2005 season by WEFA.
To increase competition amongst the top European teams, Europe has been split into four major leagues, the Anglo-Dutch League comprising English, Scottish and Dutch teams, the Central League, including teams from Germany, Belgium, Russia and Ukraine, the Mediterranean League featuring teams from Italy, Turkey and Greece and the Iberian League, filled with teams from France, Spain and Portugal.
The inaugural Iberian League Division 2 will feature the following teams: France: Toulouse, Nantes, Auxerre, Rennes Spain: Cadiz, Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla Portugal: Sporting Lisbon
Teams play each other home and away. At the end of the season, the top two teams will be promoted to Iberian League Division 1.
During the season, all Division 2 teams will also play in the Petronas cup, featuring two-legged quarter and semi-finals and a single-match final.
There will be two transfer windows, one during the close season, and one duirng the winter break between weeks 16-19.
