Cadiz kept yet another clean sheet and sneaked a 1-0 win to move to third in the table on goal difference.
Manager Juan Carlos Oliveira sprung a surprise, as Cadiz lined up in a hybrid 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation with wingers in the form of Sesma and Estoyanoff. It may have been a move designed to provide greater width and add more of a goal threat but in reality the players looked uncomfortable with the new system and Cadiz produced perhaps their worst performance of the season.
Toulouse had the better of the first half and created a couple of half chances. Moreira, especially should have done better with a volley which he sent wide. Cadiz created nothing until a decisive moment just before half time. Pavoni pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the Toulouse box but saw his attempted effort at goal blocked. The ball rebounded away from the area into the patch of Fleurquin. Without breaking stride, the imposing Uruguayan hit a first time shot from fully 30 meters out, which caught Revault by surprise and nestled into the back of the net. A moment of real quality, not fitting with Cadiz' play up until then.
With confidence now up, Cadiz fashioned another chance just before the break as Sesma played a delightful diagonal ball to pick out a perfectly timed run by Mirosavljevic. The Serbian went for the first time volley when he may have been better off taking the ball down. Just before half-time, it was to be Cadiz' last meaningful attack of the whole game.
The 2nd half was a scrappy affair. The onus was on Toulouse to find an equaliser but the French team simply did not create enough and when they did, they didn't work Armando hard enough in the Cadiz goal. Cadiz were happy to rely on their solid defensive organisation to see the game out and will now head into a derby double against Sevilla on the back of two consecutive wins.
